New Resources from BuildingGreen

We’ve been busy at BuildingGreen, and much of our effort over the past few months is coming to fruition at the U.S. Green Building Council’s Greenbuild Conference in Pittsburgh this month:

We have assembled for the second year a best-of compilation of papers being presented at Greenbuild. The Pittsburgh Papers includes 15 papers on topics ranging from understanding energy models to the financial benefits of green buildings. The $35 volume will be available at Greenbuild and by mail order.

On Wednesday, November 12, at Greenbuild, we’ll announce our 2003 Top-10 picks of green building products. If you won’t be at the conference, look for this information in the December issue of

EBN or in our free e-mail bulletin (you can sign up at

www.BuildingGreen.com/go/bulletin).

Speaking of products, we will also be premiering the 4th edition of our GreenSpec Directory at Greenbuild. Hot off the press, this 440-page book includes over 1,750 listings (240 new ones) in nearly 300 categories organized by CSI division. It sells for $89.

Finally, Greenbuild marks the official launch of the BuildingGreen Suite, our greatly expanded, integrated online information resource.

Previously known as

Premium Web Content, the

BuildingGreen Suite includes three major components: our

GreenSpec products database (see

EBN

Vol. 10, No. 7/8), the High-Performance Buildings Case Studies Database that we developed for the U.S. Department of Energy (see

EBN

Vol. 11, No. 5), and the entire archive of

EBN articles from the past 12 years.

Although they are the latest addition, we expect that the

EBN articles will become the backbone of this resource. Extensive effort has gone into organizing and cataloging the articles in the most useful ways. Just as important, these articles are linked to both the

GreenSpec database and the case studies database. So, for example, if you’re interested in access floors, you might first review the

GreenSpec listings, then link to in-depth

EBN articles, and go on to view case studies of buildings that have access floors.

Development of the

BuildingGreen Suite has been supported, in part, by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority to build the new capabilities and bring this enhanced service to architects and contractors throughout New York State. Other support has come from a number of national and regional architecture, engineering, and construction firms that have been testing and using these tools.

A single-user subscription to the

BuildingGreen Suite costs $199 and includes access to each issue of

EBN as it is posted online (with color photos). Additional users from the same company, agency, or organization can subscribe for $45 each. Further discounts are applied for firmwide access. A one-week trial subscription is only $12.95. I hope you’ll take a look at this resource. Let us know what you think!
