Safety Sheets Getting New Format—And Some New Data

The building design and construction industry has long relied on material safety data sheets (MSDS) to provide basic information about chemical ingredients and VOC emissions when specifying building materials.

But it’s not a perfect fit for the industry. Intended to give first-aid information to industrial workers and hazard information to first responders in case of a workplace injury or chemical spill, the MSDS focuses on known physical and health hazards.
