D.C. Considers Green Building Legislation

In its final draft, the bill phases in green building requirements as follows:

• By 2008, all District-owned commercial projects must achieve an Energy StarTM score of 75 and must achieve a Silver level in the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED® Rating System, and all renovation projects undertaken by tenants in District-owned buildings larger than 30,000 ft2 (3,000 m2) must achieve the Certified level in LEED for Commercial Interiors.
